We’re building something here. All the pieces matter…

Don’t mind me if I get annoyed when I read that political slut Joe Lieberman is pushing a bill in the Senate that would….

grant the president far-reaching emergency powers to seize control of or even shut down portions of the Internet.

In addition to how stupid that sounds – you can’t shut down portions of the internet for very long, if at all. The internet is worldwide. At best you can shut down my access to it – what could possibly be the reasoning behind a bill like this?

preserve those networks and assets and our country and protect our people

By shutting them down? Wha? Liebershits, please explain.

“For all of its ‘user-friendly’ allure, the Internet can also be a dangerous place with electronic pipelines that run directly into everything from our personal bank accounts to key infrastructure to government and industrial secrets”

No, I still don’t understand.

the power to monitor the “security status” of private sector Web sites, broadband providers, and other Internet components.

Oh, I get it now. The legacy of dumb-dumb W lives on. Warrant-less wire tapping and now warrant-less internet tapping. The lesson here is that once the door is opened, we’re going to have a tough time closing it, regardless of which party same-group-of-people-under-different-names is in power.

Just to be safe I’m downloading all the porn I can fit on my laptop. To make room I had to delete a lot of porn.

(bonus points if you can identify the quote I used in the title of this post)

Normally I would exclude myself from this type of competition, but since I might be the only person reading this post, I will give an answer to your riddle.
“We’re building something here, and all the pieces matter,” Detective Lester Freeman tells a fellow detective in an episode of The Wire.
It’s a good thing Joe didn’t shut down the interwebs today or I would never have come up with that.
