On Star Wars Conventions

So, until recently, Star Wars Conventions and their attendees were something that was to be made fun of . . . and nothing else.  I have enjoyed occasionally poking fun at pictures of people who dress up like stormtroopers and the like for years.  Then something happened to me to make me declare in my mind: I must go see this display of concentrated geekdom for myself.  I searched for the next Star Wars convention and found that there is going to be a huge one in August in Orlando, FL.  Not living within 1000 miles of that, I had to decide if I was going to go the distance with this hair-brained scheme.  I decided I would.  Myself and two friends will be attending Star Wars Celebration V in August.  My mission is to comprehensively document the maximum nerdocity displayed at this event.  I will be compiling a photo album and video which will be featured on this very site (assuming it still exists by then.)  So stay tuned, and remember, I am going to the convention to make fun of other people, not as a geek myself (I have to keep repeating that to myself.)  I’ll be dressing up as Spock.

P.S.  It is of small note that today is the 30th anniversary of the release of Empire Strikes Back/Episode V.

Our crack marketing staff is working on business cards for you. Rumors about the site paying for your ticket, however, are only that.

Besides, I already bought my ticket. Now I just need help purchasing my “Fat Spock” out fit (ears not included):
