  • 2010 on pace to have 2nd most fatalities, by year (currently 223)
  • Will be longest conventional ground war in United States history before next Memorial Day

Operation Iraqi Freedom

  • Began May 2oth, 2003
  • 4718 fatalities among Coalition forces since the war began
  • By year, greatest number of fatalities occurred in 2007 (904)
  • Will be 3rd longest war in United States history before next Memorial Day

    Not to be un-American about it, but I think it should not be overlooked that nearly 50,000 Iraqis have perished, mostly civilians. Imagine if that was happening in the U.S. . . .

    j/k of course. I couldn’t find consistent fatality numbers for the Iraqis and Afgans so I gave up.
